Did she cry? She sure did. On Labor Day, ABC will reveal footage from Jared Haibon’s proposal to Ashley Iaconetti, which went down during filming of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico.
The moment of course, as fans know, was a bookend for the couple who first met on the franchise spinoff in 2015. The clip reveals exactly how Haibon pulled off the grand surprise—by pretending that they were there to give the cast advice—and enlisting the help of longtime host Chris Harrison.
Cast members were told of Haibon’s sweet plan just as he brought Iaconetti over to the beach. From afar, they watched the proposal take place as Haibon launched into a rather moving monologue.
“Three years ago we met right at this spot,” he told his girlfriend. “I don’t ever want another day to go by that I don’t kiss you and tell you how beautiful you are and how much you mean to me. You’d make me the happiest man alive if I had the opportunity to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Of course Iaconetti teared up and the preview revealed by People cut off just as Haibon dropped to one knee.
Their relationship only recently turned romantic, but the two have been longtime friends—enduring tumultuous moments at times. In May, the pair revealed their full love story on a series called the Story of Us. “All I know is that I’m happier when I am with you,” he expressed in a card that detailed his love for Iaconetti.
Watch above, and tune in on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
