From Wimbledon to her wedding! Tennis pro Dominika Cibulkova is still getting married this weekend.
The Slovakian athlete, 27, who progressed to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, told reporters on Monday, July 4, that she and her fiance, Miso Navara, were reconsidering their wedding date of Saturday, July 9, after a slew of surprising victories. On Monday, Cibulkova — the No. 18 seed at the 2016 tournament — beat her contender, No. 3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, and the victory created somewhat of a dilemma for the future bride.
“We chose this [wedding date] because I never saw myself as such a great grass-court player,” Cibulkova told ESPN and other outlets. “Now, being in [the] quarterfinals, I would change my mind. It’s no problem. We can postpone it.”
The tennis pro and her future husband informed their guests about a possible last-minute change. “I always said, if we would really have to postpone it, then it will be like dream come true because nothing better could happen to me in my tennis career,” Cibulkova told reporters on Monday. “It’s no problem to postpone a wedding one week after, and it will be even more enjoyable.”
She also took to Instagram to celebrate Monday’s victory. “Epic moment!!!!!!!!!!” Cibulkova captioned a pic of herself planking on the court. “One of the biggest and the hardest victories in my career.”
Cibulkova, however, lost on Tuesday, July 5, after facing fellow pro Elena Vesnina in the quarterfinals. Now, she will get married on Saturday as originally planned.
