At least he found it! A New York Yankees fan temporarily lost the engagement ring while proposing to his girlfriend during the Yankees-Red Sox game on Tuesday, September 27 — and the entire incident was captured on live television.

Andrew Fox first appeared on the Jumbotron before 50,000-plus spectators, who filed into Yankee Stadium to witness the longtime rivalry between the teams. Instead, the fans watched in horror when Fox opened the Kay Jewelers box and it was empty.

“He fumbles right away,” the broadcaster noted while Fox frantically searched in the stands for the ring. “I mean, he’s nervous! It’s one of the biggest moments in his life… Oh, that poor guy.”

In the video, Fox looks absolutely distraught while his girlfriend, Heather Terwiliger, is in utter disbelief that he dropped the rock. Their neighbors are equally frantic in the stands as they help the pair search for the ring.

Thankfully, the situation was redeemed when the ring was found. The couple grinned and the entire stadium erupted into cheers.

Following the gaffe, the newly-engaged pair spoke to Yankees on-demand reporter Gary Hamilton.

“Well, the message appeared on the screen and I told her to look on the screen,” the future groom shared. “And the ring just popped out.”

The future bride, meanwhile, said she “didn’t know what to think” when her boyfriend lost the ring. “It was all a really big shock to me,” she shared. “But I’m glad he found it.”

Ultimately, the diamond was nestled within the cuff of her jeans. Watch the moment above.
